Google Sends A Message On Advertorial & Sponsored Content

Recently, you may have heard that Google took severe action against the florist Interflora and a number of UK newspapers, essentially “outing” them for advertising tactics that violated the company’s guidelines.  Obviously, what these newspapers were doing was something Google was not happy about– as a recent post  on the media industry site Paid Content pointed out,  the PageRank of the local news websites that posted the content didn’t just decline, but “actually dropped to zero“. Facebook’s big announcement regarding their News Feed makes for an eye opening and visual update.
